Kooky Spooky
GCA Club Flower Show
05 November, 2008

Dear Lenox Garden Club Members,
I wish to express my appreciation and thanks to the LGC members who entered our club flower at Ventfort Hall on October 30.  The flower arrangements were fun and unique and the standards were superior.  Congratulations to Ursula Dichter who won the Novice Flower Arranging Award for her entry in Class 3 Ghouls and Goblins.  The judges for our show traveled from Maine and Boston and were very impressed by the high quality of all exhibits.
Horticulture entries received many kudos as well.  Barbara May won the Gertrude Burdsall Award for Horticulture in Class 7 Haunted House and Paula Gimblette captured the Novice Award for her trained topiary plant in Class 6, Creep Crawly.  Thanks go to Carolyn King for her cheerleading efforts to bring in Horticulture entrants.  We had a fine showing of 25 top notch horticulture specimens.
Several of our members acted as clerks for our judging panels.  I want to thank Selina Lamb, Kimberley Crocker, Barbara May, Sally Set and Joan Comeau.  Their keen listening and recording abilities were appreciated by the flower show judges.
The Judge’s Luncheon was a huge success.  I wish to thank Leslie Snyder for her capable hands and help in the kitchen with the lunch.  She and Paula Gimblette, Sally Set, Joan Comeau and Debbie Smith were enormously helpful in preparing and serving the luncheon.
I especially want to express my sincere thanks to Tjasa Sprague for allowing us the use of Ventfort Hall.  It was the perfect venue for a Halloween themed flower show.  She and the entire staff of Ventfort Hall were most helpful in every aspect of the show… from the early staging to the final pick up and close of the show.  And speaking of staging…I wish to say thanks to the Berkshire Botanical Garden for lending us their pedestals, and to Barb May and Joan Comeau for their efforts to taxi them back and forth.
Members…thank you all for your help.  You all should be very proud of the high quality flower show you helped to produce.

Sincerely yours,
MaryEllen O’Brien
Kooky Spooky Flower Show Chairperson
